Old Fort Johnson 2008 Spring/Summer Events
Opening Day at Old Fort Johnson Saturday, May 17 from 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Join us for a fun-filled day as we begin the 2008 tour season. There’ll be baking in our reproduction bake oven; a Material Culture talk by Marilyn Sassi; a Mohawk River 18th century bateaux talk by David Manthey; and house tours. Architecture Tour of Old Fort Johnson Saturday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m. Explore the architecture features of Old Fort Johnson on this special tour. Led by Ron Burch, Curator, Art and Architecture, NYS Museum, you'll examine the Old Fort as you've never have before and see for yourself what the building has to say about 18th century life. Old Fort Johnson Movie Night Saturday, August 16 Join us as we watch the classic movie Drums Along the Mohawk under the stars. There will be an introduction to the movie at 7:30 followed by the movie at approximately 8:00 p.m. Bring a picnic and enjoy the grounds of the Old Fort before the movie. Afternoon Tea in the Garden Old Fort Johnson June 4, July 9, August, 6 and September 10 1: 00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Enjoy a relaxing cup of tea while relaxing on the grounds of Old Fort Johnson. Now in its third season, Afternoon Tea in the Garden has become a summer tradition. The cost is $8.00 per person and includes tea, savory tea sandwiches, assorted sweets and fresh fruit.
